Stripes, whether from paint or wallpaper, can introduce a contemporary edge to any design and soft shades can give a youthful, playful look which would be ideal as a kids' bedroom idea. Choose pink and white stripes for a fun and playful look ‘The wide width of the wallpaper did justice to the space and motif, giving it breadth whilst the upwards trailing vines drew the eye up past the slope, giving the room height.’ 5. The layout of the room, although expansive, was wide and long and an awkward ceiling slope required some thought,’ adds Kate. ‘We like how the pattern brings a plushness, whilst the muted color adds a restful tone. While wallpaper was used, the effect is very much like an artist’s painting and adds a note of luxury. ‘Creating a restful space is always a priority in a bedroom scheme, in this project we took our design cues from the Arts & Crafts bones of the building, opting for a decorative Tree of Life wallpaper in the master bedroom,’ says interior designer Kate Cox at HÁM interiors. In this bedroom by HÁM interiors, the pretty wallpaper stretches dynamically across the wall, cleverly picking up all the colors in the room. But the good news is that you can easily achieve a similar look with paint, wallpaper or even tiles. While you can have a bespoke wall mural idea created, you would need pretty deep pockets. Use different tones to create an illusion of heightĪ decorative mural can bring a wall to life and be either large or small scale. To ensure that, we chose child-like, small-scale art and displayed it in a random pattern for a more playful feel.’ 3. ![]() ‘Because this guest room was meant to be used by adults and children alike, the room needed to appeal to both groups. ‘Randomly placed art can make a bedroom feel visually interesting and sophisticated,’ she says. Hanging art in unexpected ways or layouts can add to the character keeps the eye traveling around the room like in this design by New York and Chicago-based interior designer Michael Del Piero. When it comes to displaying your pieces, there is no need to go the conventional route either. You can think further out of the box and use a textured wall hanging or a beautifully framed piece of fabric or sculpture. If your budget doesn’t stretch to one-off individual pieces, there are many options like photographs and posters to choose from. ![]() And the bonus is that it is relatively easy and inexpensive to add art to your walls. Use wall art to create visual interestĪ wall without art is a missed opportunity to bring color, texture and character into a bedroom. ‘The paneled cupboard fronts bring character to the space, but designed as handless and finished in the same color as the walls they recede rather than dominate the space as a sizeable wardrobe can.’ 2. ‘A wall of bespoke joinery makes the best use of every corner,’ says Andrew. ‘The use of wraparound color gives this bedroom a gently cocooning feel, in a shade that connects with the treetops that can be seen from the window,’ says founder Andrew Griffiths.’ This room is in the property’s roof space, so has some irregular angles and varying ceiling height, but the wash of color helps even that out visually.’Īs well as the enveloping shade, clever joinery is another device used to add interest to the walls. Consider the same paint idea over walls, skirting and joinery – like in this project by A New Day interior design studio. And one of the best ways to do this is to use a deep single color across the whole room. If there is one space you want to ooze coziness and comfort, it is the bedroom. ![]() ![]() After finally getting Himiko to stand down, Ochaco uses what's left of her strength to ensure that all her fellow Heroes have a safe landing. She is known to be careful with her hands so that she doesn't accidentally activate her Quirk on something or someone she doesn't want to.Īdditionally, while having temporary access to this Quirk due to the use of her own given Quirk, Transform, Himiko Toga demonstrated the potential lethality of Zero Gravity after causing Chitose Kizuki and her henchmen to float up to a dangerous height, she releases the ability and allows them to plummet to the ground, killing them all instantly.ĭuring the Final War, Ochaco utilized the awakened Zero Gravity to completely halt Himiko's Sad Man's Legion, causing her Double swarm, and the accompanying Heroes and Villains, to all be suspended in the air. Ochaco can further use Zero Gravity to remove her own weight, increasing her agility, make unconscious allies and enemies weightless to transport them easier, deflect heavy, incoming projectiles and create decoys by making objects levitate slightly above the ground.īecause prolonged usage of Zero Gravity causes nausea, Ochaco had several mechanisms installed in her costume in order to mitigate its effects. This ability to easily clean up disaster zones also makes her useful for rescue missions. Ochaco can release floating rubble on enemies as a long-range projectile attack or remove the weight of certain heavy structures, holding onto them to use as an improvised melee weapon. Ochaco often takes advantage of ravaged areas by using her Quirk to gather wreckage without an opponent noticing, expertly exploiting the collateral damage of a destructive Quirk. After learning martial arts with Gunhead, she has developed a few moves that she is able to use in conjunction with her Quirk. This consequently causes her targets to continuously float up and lose their footing, severely limiting, if not eliminating, their fighting capability. Ochaco's main battle tactic consists of using her Quirk directly on opponents by getting close enough to make contact with them through her fingers. When Ochaco underwent her Quirk Awakening after getting seriously stabbed by Himiko, the new abilities are also harder to control, as when she used it on Himiko's Double army, it affected everyone in the vicinity, friend or foe, keeping them all suspended in the air. Because her Quirk is activated by touch, she is vulnerable to opponents that have ranged Quirks and can keep their distance. With training, she has managed to mitigate these drawbacks considerably.ĭue to her being limited to floating objects from only her hands, which are also her Quirk Factor, Ochaco will be unable to utilize her Quirk if she loses the said limbs. This can also happen when she uses the Quirk on herself to float for too long. Continued strain and floating herself results in her feeling sick and nauseous, even to the point of vomiting. ![]() The more objects Ochaco has under the influence of her Quirk, the more she will struggle to keep them afloat. This Awakening also removed Ochaco's weight limit of three tons. This allowed the anti-gravity effects to spread amongst each of the objects that came into contact with each other, without Ochaco having to touch all of them. She is able to activate or cancel her Quirk's effects by closing her fingers together.Īs part of her training, Ochaco put herself into plastic sphere that would tumble down a mountain, all in effort to get her inner ear canals used to zero gravity and reduce nausea, all while increasing how much weight she can lift.ĭuring the Final War, Ochaco underwent a Quirk Awakening after being grievously stabbed by Himiko Toga while refusing to back down. ![]() Through Zero Gravity, Ochaco can make anything solid float in mid-air as long as they are within the weight limit of her Quirk, which is around three tons. He bought the majority of their stake, but not their entire stake. “Greg and I are excited to improve Powder Mountain further.”ĬLARIFICATION: An earlier version of this story stated that Reed Hastings bought out the Summit Series’ founders’ stake in Powder Mountain. “Elliott Bisnow and crew had a big dream that partially came true,” Hastings said in the news release. Following his resignation from the CEO role, the company changed his salary for 2023 to $500,000, with a $2.5 million stock option. Powder Mountain did not disclose how much Hastings paid for his piece of the ski hill. Netflix paid Hastings $35 million in 2022, according to SEC filings. The Tribune reports that Bisnow approached Hastings about buying the Summit Series founders’ stake only two weeks ago. “And I think now it’s: Have an incredible ski mountain that’s uncrowded where you can get multiday powder.” “At some point, it was save-the-world stuff,” Hastings told the Salt Lake Tribune in a conversation following his recent splurge. In January, he told Fortune that he and his wife love the mountain’s isolation and “pioneer” vibe, and that he sees Powder now as a traditional real estate project “without pretensions to Summit’s ‘We’re going to change the world with our interactions’” ethos. Hastings doesn’t seem to share the original developers’ utopian ambitions for a bustling ski resort for socially conscious movers and shakers. Neither responded to requests for comment Monday evening.) An impulse buy? What went wrong? Building a community at 9,000 feet accessible only by one of the steepest roads in the country is no easy feat, and the COVID pandemic and supply-chain problems didn’t help. They formed a collective with a venture capitalist named Greg Mauro and his partner Rob Hutter, and laid out a vision for a year-round home base for the Summit Series conference business and an elegant town for people who shared their ethos: “Make no small plans.” As Fortune reported, Summit “was to be a place where big, world-changing, philanthropic ideas would be hatched.” ![]() The Summit Series founders-Elliott Bisnow, Brett Leve, Jeff Rosenthal, and Jeremy Schwartz-inspired breathless media attention when they raised $40 million from their high-flying network to buy Powder Mountain 10 years ago. Summit Series events are known for talks by the likes of Jeff Bezos and Bill Clinton performances by The Roots and other stars epic dance parties and celebrity-chef prepared meals and immersive seminars on lucid dreaming or psychedelic mushrooms. Powder Mountain was a fading ski resort in 2013 when it was purchased by the four twentysomething founders of Summit Series, a hedonistic invitation-only conference for entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and celebrities. Hastings did not respond to requests for further comment Monday evening. He is “looking forward to being a part of Powder Mountain’s future” and wants to “safeguard what makes this place special,” the Netflix cofounder and executive chair said in the release. Now Hastings has bought out the majority of those founders’ stake and will play a central role in deciding what comes next for Powder, according to a news release on Monday. They were among a long list of prominent business figures drawn to the vision for an alpine Shangri-la laid out by the young founders of a glitzy conference series. Avid skiers and snowboarders, the couple became seasonal neighbors to Martin Sorrell, founder of marketing behemoth WPP, and Ken Howery, a cofounder of PayPal. Hastings, who is worth an estimated $3.1 billion, and his wife, Patty Quillin, bought a plot on the mountainside and built a modernist wooden cylindrical home there eight years ago. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Together they offer a unique understanding of early Greek classical architecture seen through the work of an 18th-century master.
